| Mahogany
Wood... ...
a tropical hardwood indigenous
to South America, Central America and Africa, mahogany is an excellent carving wood,
strong, with a uniform pore structure and with less defined annual rings.
It has a reddish-brown
colour and may display stripe, ribbon, rope, ripple or blister figures. When
embellished with gilt and ormolu fittings, this majestic red wood was the quintessence of
Napolean's Empire style.
